Training, Technical Assistance and Professional Development
Oregon Mentors believes that one way to increase youth success through mentoring is to train program staff. Trained and qualified staff offer better support to mentors and make more informed decisions about program policies and procedures.
We base our knowledge on the nationally-recognized Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring™ from best practices of mentoring programs in Oregon, and from our staff's personal experiences in mentoring and the nonprofit sector.
Oregon Mentors staff connects registered mentoring programs with the following resources:
Trainings and Portland-area Network Meetings
Oregon Mentors both serves as the trainer and links programs to trainings for staff and volunteers. For a list of upcoming trainings, go to our calendar.
Coaching / Technical Assistance
Oregon Mentors offers one-on-one, personalized technical assistance and coaching on a wide variety of issues related to mentoring such as program policies and evaluation, how to start a mentoring program, and nonprofit sustainability.
Bi-Annual Conference
Oregon Mentors partners with leaders in the field of mentoring to create an inspiring (and low-cost) conference for youth development professionals. Our next conference will be in Spring 2013.
