Program Description
The CADY Mentoring Program matches youth ages 10-17 years old with mentors. The priority of the program is to reduce the school dropout rate and encourage school success.
Ages of Youth in the Program

Description of Youth in the Program
Volunteers will be matched with youth ages 10-17. Matches must be either adult male to male youth, or adult female to female youth. Matches will be given preference based on common interests and geographic proximity.
Quality Standards of Program
Youth Goals and Outcomes
The priority of the program is to reduce the school dropout rate and to encourage academic success. The high level outcome for the program is to reduce juvenile arrests with a program strategy of truancy prevention services by connecting medium and high risk youth to a mentor.
Mentor Profile
Mentors must be at least 21 years of age and reside in Clatsop County, Oregon. They must agree to adhere to all CADY mentoring program policies and procedures, along with agreeing to a one year commitment to the program. All volunteers must pass the interview and background check process.
Types of Mentoring
- Volunteer with one youth (one-to-one mentoring)
Place Where Mentoring Occurs
- Community-based (community activities might include, sports, meals, museums, concerts, etc.)
Hours Needed
- Weekday Mornings: 8 am to Noon
- Weekday Afternoon: Noon to 3 pm
- Weekday After School: 3 pm to 5 pm
- Weekday Evenings: 5 pm to 9 pm
- Weekend
