Program Description

Elevate Oregon delivers "an invitation to achieve" to at-risk youth. it is an empowering, efficient, year-round mentoring program centered on raising graduation rates and post-secondary enrollment, while striving to create "generational firsts", offering the students the tools they need to become future leaders in our region. Full-time, paid teacher/mentors guide students, providing the long-term caring adult relationships vital to a student's success.

Description of Youth in the Program

Elevate Oregon currently serves students in the Parkrose School district in grades 1st through 12th, boys and girls, mixed ethnicity. Over 85% of the students served are on the free and reduced lunch program and are selected to participate in Elevate Oregon classes and activities based on the direction of the principals, teachers, and counselors at each school we serve.

Quality Standards of Program

Elevate Oregon is modeled on and partnered with the acclaimed mentoring program, Colorado UpLift. This 30 year proven program is recognized for its remarkable effectiveness at breaking cycles of generational poverty, improving the lives of at-risk youth and helping build responsible leaders of tomorrow. Other replications are in New York, Orlando and Phoenix. Elevate Oregon maintains the same high standards that have been established by Colorado Uplift over their 30 year history. Elevate Oregon fully complies with the Elements of Effective Practice.

Youth Goals and Outcomes

While our stated targets are to increase graduation rates and enrollment in post-secondary education, Elevate Oregon is also focusing on creating "generational firsts" for the students we serve.

Elevate Oregon exclusively uses full time paid Teacher/Mentors to implement our program.

Place Where Mentoring Occurs

  • Community-based (community activities might include, sports, meals, museums, concerts, etc.)
  • Site-based (limited to one location: school, activity center, workplace, etc.)

Hours Needed

  • Weekday Mornings: 8 am to Noon
  • Weekday Afternoon: Noon to 3 pm
  • Weekday After School: 3 pm to 5 pm
  • Weekday Evenings: 5 pm to 9 pm
  • Weekend
